A week of SURPRISES
This past week has been full of excitement! Monday was my dear sweet hubby's 30th birthday. It was also his first day of his brand new job, which is great because it is straight days. He had to go talk to the HR man and he found out that he is making .50 more than what we originally thought he would be!
All week long the boys were either on snow delays or being dismissed early or no school at all, so I got some extra time to spend with them to!
Friday my mom was off from work, so we went to awards day at the school and then we went out to see Untraceable! She treated me to the movie and to lunch, kinda an early birthday present! We had a wonderful day!
Saturday was my little red's 7th birthday! My father in law, aka guy (click here for more details) came in from North Carolina with his friend Gene. Daniel had to work, so I got everything done, took my shower and gave myself a hair cut, looks really pretty to! We thought that Daniel was going to have to work until 2:30, but got off at 12, which was great! He made it home before everyone got here. I had my father-in-law stop and pick up Grayson's cake.
He surprised me with a cake of my own. It was chocolate, I like white. I was very thankful anyway because it was such a sweet sentiment.
It was beautiful as you can see, until I set it on the stove...
My father in law just fussed, not mad really just playing with me. The party was going great until time to serve the food... yep you guessed it, it was my cake again. I was getting some one's plate ready and knocked my cake off the table. My father in law wasn't in the room and the cake landed in chair. SAVED, not. I slowly tilted the chair forward to rescue my cake, hoping that it would go right back in the plate. Half of it did the other half went on the floor and smushed, the beautiful roses. We joked about this all evening and I told him that I had already told him I like white cake not chocolate. LOL we had a very nice time.
Then came present time. I had told Grayson that all I was going to get him was bugs for his birthday. The poor baby even had a nightmare about spiders. It made me feel bad. Here is a picture of him with his real present we got for him.
As you can see it is a remote control spider! He liked it though!
I think everyone knows that I won Mary's giveaway. Well that tickled me pink. I got another email yesterday saying that I had one another giveaway to JCNaturals. It is really cool, you should go check it out!
I have had a really blessed week. We also had a wonderful church service yesterday and I have been looking for someone to sing with me, I don't like singing by myself. During church, I asked my soon to be sissy in law
if she sings. Turns out she does and wants to start singing with me at church. Woohoo! Praise the Lord for all my blessings this week.
P.S. My birthday is Wednesday, Jan. 30th. I will be a big 29!

The differences between mommy and daddy
As all mothers know, there is a major difference in the way that moms and dads care for children. For example, when I was little my mom worked days and my dad worked worked second shift. We would always go eat lunch with mommy and I can still remember my mother griping about how she knew dad had let me dress myself that day. I would go without brushing my hair, my clothes inside out and my shoes on the wrong feet. My husband isn't quiet this bad. He does make sure shoes are on right and clothes are not inside out, but matching, I don't that it is in a man's blood to match things very well. Grayson, or as we call him, mooch, would pick out his own clothes, all mismatched and sometimes stained to go to school and dad would let him go on. I try to make sure that they match and are not stained. I remember those kids in school who came in with their hair still in the beautiful bedhead style and clothes stained or ripped (my kids do wear holey jeans but by their own choice because the think it looks cool. Anyway you get the idea.
Last night we were watching ghost hunters and my seven year old stumbled into the room. If you are not familiar with the show, they use scientific research to try to disprove or debunk the presence of ghosts. Usually on the show there is not a lot going on, but last night they did catch some rather disturbing video clips that creeped me out. My son went on to bed.
Later he was crying because he had a nightmare. Daniel went into his room. Mooch told him that he had a bad dream because of that show. I would have said its just a show babe, go back to sleep, even though it did kinda scare me to. But did dad say that? Oh but not, he says why are you scared? They are just ghosts.
I was like OMGosh. I can not believe he said that to that poor little fella. It must have satisfied Grayson though, because he went right on back to sleep and slept all night long.

Carmel Pie
In honor of National pie day, I will share a very easy pie recipe.
1 can eagle brand cream
1 graham cracker pie crust
1 tub cool whip
Remove the label from the can of cream. Put the WHOLE CAN of cream can and all, in a large pot of water. Boil can of cream for three hours. Allow can of cream to cool for about an hour. Open can of cream, which will be carmel now and pour it into the crust. Top with cool whip and now you have a lovely carmel pie.

I have been tagged by Hopie!
I have been tagged to do seven weird or random facts about me. So here goes lets see what all I can come up with...
1. I am a Christian and I go to Durhams Chapel church. I have went there my whole life and until I grew up, I thought that all of the people who went there didn't really care about me, and didn't like me so much. I have learned that my church family is very important to me and I love each one of them very much and they all have a special place in my heart as I am sure I do in theirs. It is nice to know that you can call someone night or day and they will be there by your side.
2. I assist with the children's choir at church and love to sing.
3. I have a very faint birth mark on my lip and the only time it is visible is if my lips are dry. How weird is that?
4. I am going to be 29 years old on January 30th. I feel so old.
5. I went into labor with my first child when I was only four months pregnant. I was dilated to two when I got to the hospital. They were able to stop it, and I stayed at two for the rest of the time i was pregnant.
6. My belly is growling. I need food, but the grocery store is closed.
7. I was dog bit when I was three. It lacked a quarter of an inch getting my jugular vein. God must have been really watching over me that day because that was really close.
I don't have seven people who haven't been tagged so I am going to tag Salena and Draven. So guys post seven things that are either random or weird about you. Love you both.

Good news
Daniel finally starts his new job tomorrow. I am so excited! It is a day job. He will be leaving not long before the kids do and getting home not to long after they get home. I can not wait. I have felt like my life has been turned up side down since he has been working at the mattress factory. I have not had any time alone at all, which is good i had my time with him during the day and the kids at night, but where is the family time? The only day we had together was on Sunday. Now we will have the whole evening to be together, plus I will have some time to clean my house. Tomorrow I have a hot date... with the vacuum cleaner! lol.
Well I am outta here for now I will write more tomorrow.

Snow
We had snow here today! It has been a very long time since we have had enough snow to amount to anything. We actually had about three inches, it was so pretty. The kids built a snowman.
As you can see, under the snow I have a muddy nasty mess.
The yellow house is my mom and dads house. This is the the view from my yard.
Breath taking isn't it. After I watched the kids play in the snow for a bit
it was back to cleaning! When we moved into this house, we had all of our things, plus most of my mother-in-laws things. Since we moved into my grandmothers house, we had all of her furniture, clothes, trinkets, dishes you name it. The house is not small, a four bedroom, but with all these things and only two closets, all I can say is AHHH! The initial move in was a nightmare. We went through everything, and kept most, things stuffed everywhere because I did not know what to do with my grandparents belongings and my mother did not want me to get rid of to much. Some went in the small attic and most of the rest in the closet in my sons room (which is just a closet under the stairs, which also contained a salt purifier). Today I went through the closet under the stairs. I found some of our things in there and just threw them away. We have city water now, so we got rid of the purifier. My son now has room to put his things and is very happy. It was an all day job though and I am very glad it is finished. Next stop, under my bed. So in conclusion,

Work work work
You know what they say all work and no play makes jack a dull boy, well that is what has happened to me. Cleaning house, and running errands. Thanks to Karen for asking about me, I am fine. I have just been really busy. Daniel still hasn't started his new job which is really frustrating. The place that he works at right now is a really bad environment. There is a lot of drugs and a lot of hootchies there. I trust him though and know that he isn't doing anything. I just hate for him to be in that kind of place and I know he gets frustrated with it to. He is waiting for the other company to get his drug test back and the company that they use to do them is running a couple of days behind, but he should start soon. Well I have a little more work to do, but I will be back soon!

So Excited!
I spoke with my friend Emily tonight, the one who expecting. She had a doctor appointment today. It is not going to be long at all until Lilly arrives! She is dilated to three and 50% effaced. I told her she better call me so when it is time she is going to call on her way to the hospital and then after she finds out what is going on. That should give me plenty of time to get ready so I can take off and be there in time for the little ones arrival! I am so excited. I cant wait!

Wish I were sleeping
Oh what a wonderful day to sleep! It is raining outside and it sounds so pretty on out tin roof. The kids are at school and Dan is in the bed. Its so peaceful. Its also kinda chilly in here which makes me want to just snuggle right down under the covers as far as I can go without my feet hanging out the bottom!
Unfortunately sleep does not come easy around here. I am so tired but I have already tried to lay back down this morning, got all warm and what do you think happens? Well, if you guess the phone rang, then you are right! It was my dear little Kirkland.
This morning before school his zipper got stuck and would not zip all the way up. Well apparently, his zipper busted out. His shirt barely covered it and he is a very conservative little boy. For the second time today, the first because we missed the bus, I had to venture out into the rain to take him some pants. When I got to the school, I could see him through the window on the door. He had this look on his face of pure worry, it was almost as if he was thinking 'oh no, i just know everyone can see my drawers'. He looked pitiful. When he saw me with his pants his little face just lit up. Once again Mighty Mom has saved the day.
One day I will have to tell you all about Mighty Mom and Dino Dad, that will be a whole different blog!

Kids
Being a mother is great! I love it but i must admit it has its moments. Last night was one of those moments. My son, my dear sweet Draven, who usually has a good head on his shoulders let some little bitty something slip his mind and did not tell me until last night about five.
He informed me that he had a science project due today and he told his teacher it was electricity. I hate science and my husband works second shift at the moment. My husband like science and he is an ELECTRICIAN. He know all these things and was off all weekend long. It would have been the perfect time to work on his project.
The local hardware store closes at five. I had no way to get all these things he needed. In a panic, I went to my dear friend Mr. Internet. We found a project that only called for simple ingredients that I could purchase at the dollar store. It was a device involving a styrofoam plate, Styrofoam cup, string, aluminum foil, tape, clay and a metal pie pan. Oh and balloons, I forgot about those. I went to the store and got the materials he would need.
We worked on the project for a while. First we had to attach the cup to the pan (which did have a crust in it that I had to crumble out of the pan) with clay. The dollar store did not have molding clay, so I bought silly putty and play dough, not very good gluing agents. We ended up gluing the up on. That was the first glitch.
We finally finished it and it was time to test out the meter. Guess what, it did not work. I was frustrated, he was frustrated, and it was getting late. He accidentally discovered that the little aluminum ball attached to this ugly little contraption would cling to his balloon if he rubbed it in his hair. I was almost like a magnet.
Well back to Mr. Internet. We in the end did not need anything but the balloon, the ball of aluminum foil and the string. We proved that opposites attract in electricity and how.
I was so glad it worked out for him. Even though he can be a pain in the patoot, I did not want to see him fail the project.

Time with mommy
My next two posts are about me and my mom. We are very close and very good friends. I don't get to see her very much but I got to spend some time with her on Saturday. We went to my best friend Emily's baby shower. That's her in the picture below. (There is two here, in the second she is 'trying on baby clothes'.)
We were outside and there were some pretty little horses playing on the hill side. They would run up the hill and down the hill. They tripped over their hooves and skidded down the hill on their bottoms. It was quiet a comical sight.
After Emily's shower, we went for a ride through the country side. It was very beautiful. We saw rivers and ponds partially frozen. One place that we stopped at had leaves frozen under the ice, maybe four or five inches down.
We had a wonderful and I wish that we could have more like that, but with her busy schedule, it is almost impossible. I try to Cherish all the time I get with her.

Feeling silly
Warning! This is a very silly post...This morning my mommy and I had some time to ourselves. My dad went to work. My mom did not have to go in until 11. Daniel works until 2am so he was in the bed. I woke up this morning in an unusually good mood (I am Mr. Grumpy Gills in the morning LOL). We decided to go get some breakfast at McDonald's and on the way home I was thinking. Now for me, thinking while in a silly mood is not a very good thing. The whole time I was pondering lost in thought, mom was driving. It was very quiet and out of no where, I looked over at my mom and said, 'Hey what if you had to sing everything that you said? Can you imagine this. I mean really just think about it for a minute.' (I am sure all who are reading this think I have gone mad, my friends madness makes us great, makes us unique, keeping reading and think about the things that I am saying here. It really is amusing if you think about it.) Now imagine if you go into the bathroom after shopping and you are in a rush. You leave the toilet paper in the kitchen by the table and half way through, you realize you are out. Oh no! But to make things worse you can't talk, only sing.
"Oh no, my dear, I fear I have no tissue in here. It is in the floor beside the kitchen table, can you please be a deer and bring it in here" If you have ever watched a musical you have to admit that this would be a pretty funny situation that you have found yourself in.
I had my poor ol' mommy rollin by now. Things calmed down and we ate our breakfast and the whole time, she must have been thinking about this little conversation we had. She turns to me and says, "How would scold your kids?" We both cracked up and had to play the silly little game for just a little while longer.
I hope that you have all gotten some humor out of this. I still think it is very funny. If you didn't find it humorous, I am very sorry, maybe it was one of those I guess you had to be there kinda things.

improving on God given talent
I have some exciting news to share with you all today. First let me start by sharing some information that not many people know about. I love to draw in my 'spare' time (that is not very often, trust me). I have been drawing for about six, maybe seven years. I also love to write children's books and poems. I have not been published yet because I am very scared of rejection.
With all that being said, let me share my news. Yesterday, I received a call from a man about an art school. Normally, I would ignore this type of call, but I was out at the time and my husband, Daniel answered. The man asked Daniel if I liked to draw and of course he told him I did and then proceeded to tell the man how talented I am. (I do not think I am that good). Daniel told him what time I would be home and of course he called me back. I agreed to let him come here and talk with me and look at my work.
He came and must have really liked what he saw. He told me that I had a lot of artistic ability and that this course would improve on my talents that I naturally have. I enrolled in the class, which I will get 24 college credits for and hopefully find the confidence in myself that everyone else has in me.
My father in law has tried for many years to get me in this same course, so naturally he was tickled pink with the news. I am very thankful for the love and support I get from my family and friends.
I am so excited and so nervous at the same time. I hope everything goes well with this and I can become a very good artist. In time I want to illustrate and publish my very first children's book. We shall see, I suppose.

New to blogging
My name is Brandy and I am a stay at home mom of three beautiful boys. I love my family more than anything else in this world. My oldest child is Draven and he is 12 years old. My middle child is Kirkland and he is 9. Grayson is almost 7. I am married to a wonderful man named Daniel. We where child hood sweethearts, married at 16. I love him now more than I loved him then. It will be 13 years in March.
This is just my place to get my thoughts together and wind down after a long day of kids screaming and fighting like a ll brothers do. I am sure that not all blogs will be pleasant, but like i said this is just a place for me to wind down a bit and chill out.
I look forward to any comments that you may have.
